EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT

DNAR’s founding core team is experienced in basic and translational biomedical research, clinical development and product commercialization, and clinical oncology leadership.

DANIEL W. PATERSON, President and Chief Executive Officer
Daniel Paterson’s background includes more than twenty-five years in the healthcare industry, with extensive experience in oncology, and almost 20 years managing venture-backed healthcare companies. Prior to joining DNAR, Paterson was head of global strategy for specialty market and patient-level data for IMS Health. He joined IMS following the acquisition of PharMetrics where he was Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Development, and previously served as PharMetrics’ Vice President of Sales, Marketing, and Business Development. At PharMetrics, Paterson was responsible for developing the company’s strategy, product portfolio, and key partnerships, resulting in the sale to IMS Health.

Before joining PharMetrics, Paterson served as Vice President of Product Management and Vice President of Business Development at CareTools, an innovative healthcare information systems company, where he had primary responsibility for management of the product portfolio and partnership strategy. Prior to CareTools he was a member of the founding management team of OnCare, an oncology physician practice management company that grew to more than $100 million in annual revenue, and Axion, a cancer-focused pharmaceutical and clinical service firm with annual revenue of more than $250 million at the time that it was sold to Bristol Myers Squibb.

Paterson began his career designing and managing clinical-trials programs in both industry and academic settings, including management of a nation-wide oncology clinical trials consortium headquartered at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Paterson holds a bachelors degree in Biology from Boston University, and attended Northeastern University’s graduate pharmacology program.

BRIAN E. WARD Ph.D., Executive Vice President
Brian E. Ward Ph.D., brings more than two decades of Clinical Laboratory development, operations and commercialization expertise to DNAR. He successfully developed and directed the creation of several highly profitable clinical laboratories and led commercialization efforts for numerous clinical genetics, genomics and forensics products. Most recently, Dr Ward was the Senior Vice President of Development at Genomic Health, Inc. He has served as Senior Vice President of Medical Genetic Services and Senior Vice President of Operations at Myriad Genetic Laboratories, Inc. Additionally, Dr Ward has held positions at Genzyme Genetics and The University of Colorado. He is a Founding Fellow of the American College of Medical Genetics and is boarded in Molecular Genetics and Cytogenetics. Dr Ward holds a Masters Degree in Genetic Counseling and a Ph.D in Human Genetics.

DAVID T. WEAVER, Ph.D., Founding Chief Scientific Officer
David Weaver, Ph.D., is the Chief Scientific Office of DNAR. He previously served as Director of Biology and Head of New Projects for DAIAMED, a subsidiary of Suntory and Daiichi Pharmaceuticals, focused on small-molecule drug discovery and personalized medicine. Dr. Weaver was earlier an Associate Professor at the CBR Institute for Biomedical Research, Harvard Medical School, where his laboratory studied human DNA repair syndromes and the molecular regulation of DNA repair. Dr. Weaver previously held an Assistant Professor position in the Division of Tumor Immunology, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, received fellowship training at the Whitehead Institute, MIT, and completed his Ph.D. in Biological Chemistry at Harvard.


Stella Quan, Ph.D., Senior Director of Product Development

 

Stella Quan, Ph.D. has more than 25 years of management, research, development and commercialization experiences in biotechnology and diagnostic industry.  Dr. Quan joined DNAR from bioMerieux Inc. where she was Director of Immunoassay Development.  She was the Senior Director of Operations at Tripath Onoclogy.  Earlier in her career, Dr. Quan held a variety of research and development positions of increasing responsibility at Chiron Corporation, including senior director of diagnostic product development for Blood Screening and Diagnostics business, as well as the director of Chiron Reference Laboratory.  Additionally, she had held positions at Praxsys Biosystems, 3M Diagnostics and SmithKline/Beckman Instruments.  Her experiences in marker selection and her technical lead in regulatory submissions resulted in successful product approvals. Dr. Quan received her Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from University of California, Berkeley and her Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Massachusetts of Technology.
